Sidestage partnered with the Australian Academy of the Humanities to deliver a two-day hybrid conference at ANU’s Superfloor.

Hybrid conferencing remains a fantastic option where attendees may be unable to travel.

Speech clarity was delivered using Shure ULXD Wireless Handheld Microphones due to their digital quality and low latency.

The system offered strong RF performance in a complex environment and used rechargeable lithium-ion batteries with real-time monitoring to keep the show running without interruption.

We deployed our custom built, ready-to-operate vision switching system. Fully pre-cabled, this included:

  • Blackmagic ATEM Television Studio HD8 ISO for switching live cameras and virtual feeds.

  • 2x Blackmagic 4K Studio Cameras for capturing crystal clear images

  • A Blackmagic HyperDeck Studio 12G handles high-resolution media capture and playback.

  • For stable streaming, Blackmagic Studio Converters and the Teradek VidiU Go, which provide low-latency uploading with 4G/5G data backup when local internet is unsuitable or goes down.

  • A Blackmagic Videohub 20x20 12G tied it all together with fast, flexible routing.

  • Preview monitors, ethernet switching and uninterruptible power supplies.

Our setup allowed remote presenters to appear on in-room screens, creating the feel of a unified stage. Two-way communication supported live discussions between on-site and online attendees while multitrack recording ensured all sessions could be edited and repurposed after the event.

Sidestage provided full control of lighting, sound, and vision across both days. Our team managed all technical operations on-site, ensuring consistency and a polished delivery from start to finish.

We created a professional and engaging experience for both in-person and remote attendees with over 1,100 online viewers tuning into the stream.
