QL2 Dance’s May 2025 production of Garden at the Fitters’ Workshop brought together young dancers and powerful themes of sustainability, growth, and change. Sidestage was proud to provide full production support for the show, helping transform the empty hall into a unique and immersive performance space.
We worked closely with QL2 to deliver a complete technical package across staging, lighting, and audio, while also handling crew, power distribution, and backstage systems.
A 14.4m by 7.2m Global Truss Stage deck provided a strong, flat dance surface across the venue’s warehouse floor. This was complemented by two built tiered seating banks to elevate audience viewing.

Outside, a ground-supported F44 box truss system allowed our waterproof FusionWash QXLVIII LED fixtures to backlight through the venue’s large windows and frame the show space.
Feature Lighting: Back indoors, overhead and side lighting was provided by MAC Quantum Wash, Ayrton Ghibli-S, and ETC Source Four PAR fixtures for consistent colour, punchy washes, and focused beams. All controlled via a GrandMA3 Light console.
Four freestanding F34 Truss totems with FusionPAR LEDs provided ambient venue lighting. For front visibility, FusionBar Q XV LED Bars were used as footlights along the front lip of the stage.
We delivered a multi-zone PA setup with QSC K10.2 tops, KW181 subs, and K8.2 front fills. Dancer foldback was achieved using EV ZLX12 wedges.

Black Velvet Drape (supported by Telescopic Uprights) was used to create an entrance area separate from the main performance space - at the other end of the building more drape was installed to provide dedicated dressing, changing and waiting areas for the performers.
Across 10 days, our team delivered over 90 hours of hands-on crew support, including full install and pack-down, lighting operation for rehearsals and shows, and on-call technical troubleshooting.
Producing work in the Fitters’ Workshop requires careful planning and a flexible technical approach. With multiple performance dates, no fixed rigging, and a specific design brief, our crew ensured everything was delivered reliably and efficiently.
